Why Velune exists
The idea for Velune was born out of a simple frustration: world-class books were either too expensive, out of stock, or unavailable to many readers across Africa. Physical bookshops are scarce, shipping costs are high, and importing titles can take weeks.
We asked a simple question — what if every reader had instant, unlimited access to a global library right from their phone? What if the platform felt as beautiful and seamless as the best streaming services in the world, but for books?
Velune is our answer. We built it with modern technology — Supabase for a real-time backend, PDF.js for a smooth in-browser reading experience, and Paystack to make payments painless for Nigerian and African readers.
